Paintball tank to regulator adapter

Hey guys,
I just got a paintball tank to regulator adapter from my LHBS. I picked up a 20oz paintball tank at walmart and when I took off the cap I realized that walmart refills used ones and resells them. The top was slightly discolored in spots (probably from being a year or so old [i used to play paintball a lot]), but cleanish. My question is this, could I infect my beer if walmart did not take care to keep the tank semiclean or would it just be like going to a Keen Gas Supply shop and getting a regular 5 gal CO2 tank? Is there a high chance of infection with either option? And is there anything to do about it?

Thats the only way you can buy them full.

Strange. You cannot buy a new one and have them fill it?

That leaves a lot of questions about the tank. You are probably fine though.

If you have an Academy Sports or Dicks Sporting Goods store near you, you can take your own tank in and they will fill it for you.
