I've seen a couple good "box" builds but needed something a bit safer (I have a five year old who loves to help), able to complete multiple tasks, and expandable of later converting to all electric.
All liquids inter and exit from the far end of the box away from the electrical supply.

The blue handles are stainless steel three way ball valves. Wort comes from the pump to either the plate chiller or the heating element via the first valve and back out through the second valve.

All line that wort travels through are food grade silicone. The SSR and heat sink are centrally located to avoid liquids and the heat produced by the pump.

The red handle controls the rate of flow of the wort.

thaat's a pretty cool little box there, but I have to ask.... what about this makes it safer than other builds? You have an SSR right in the middle of a small water park.

The ones that seem safest to me are the ones that don't have any hoses inside of the box, using the box as a barrier between electrics (inside) and fluids (outside).

I'll put up some more pics when i get home from work.. I'll cross the cooling bridge when its not 20f out side.

Must be working OT… or could be the commute home (I got stuck in traffic for over a year once and when I got home I didn’t feel like taking any pictures either.)

Ha ha, no over time. Just running a restaurant. So I'll be replacing all the silicone lines with stainless in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for the updated pics… though I’m not really sure what I’m looking at except I see a pump and the rest looks really cool! Try taking that bad boy through airport security!

also when you run it do you leave it enclosed? It just seems having the rims tube inside with the pump would cause too much heat inside the toolbox to make an operational concern of the pump.

But I do love this build...one stop shop for mash and cooling!
