So after graduating in May and 3 months of agonizing applications yielding no results, I finally landed a job in this godforsaken market.

The technology is cellulosic ethanol- producing ethanol from hardwood and other non-food sources to be used as fuel. So I won't be brewing beer at work, but the yeast they use is Saccharomyces, and I actually cited my brewing experience when interviewing :D

Plus everybody I met who works there seems really cool and a lot of them are also homebrewers.

Brew on comrades!

I'm assuming you mean genetically modified, yes. From what I gather the molecular biology group pastes in genes from all kinds of other microbes in order to come out with the right enzymes for digesting cellulose.

I was a home brewer who has been working at a microbrewery here in youngstown ohio and recently graduated with a M.S. in biology with a thesis in butanol production from lignocellulose specifically from maple trees. I have been looking desperately for a job and was wondering if you being in the industry might have an inside scoop on where I would begin looking. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Aaron
