I am using a 15 gallon plastic connical and I currently use a pvc "yeast catcher". After unscrewing this and dumping it straight into a mason jar, it got me thinking - why don't I just attach the mason jar to the dump valve?

Problem is I can't find any kind of mason jar lid to 1.5" mpt union. Anyone have any ideas where to find / how to make something like this?

You could use a bulkhead like in most kettles and attach a lid to it. I can't find much on the thread or pitch on a mason jar.

They make plastic mason jar lids that are used to replace the vacuum lid once the jar is opened.
I would start with one of those, and then use a bulkhead fitting to adapt it to the 1.5 mpt.
