Johnson control rusting

I have a Johnson analog controller that I have been using for a couple months and when I open the freezer this morning I found the probe and wire were rusted. I have this same type of controller set up on another freezer and have never had a problem with this before. Has anyone else ever had their probe rust? Its not submerged in any water so Im not sure why it has rusted. Its not like the environment it is in is any different than its been in for months. One day it was fine the next morning rusted. Anybody else ever have this problem?

Mine controls a fridge in my garage, the line to the probe is rusty, but it works fine. Seems to be cosmetic only (for now).
