Hey all,

Just bottled my first home brew (brewers best Double IPA) and it tasted kind of bitter when bottling it. It was in primary for around 10 days then 2 weeks in carboy. It didn't look or smell bad but I know there were a few things I could have done better with experience during the whole process. Is this beer bad or does it just taste bitter when it's not carbonated

Well that recipe/kit aims for 100+ IBUs. It better taste bitter or else you did something wrong! :p

Bitterness does taste different after carbonation. Less astringent is how I would try to describe it.

Agreed, when i first bottle an IPA I did get bit of a sour bitter taste that seem old to me as well however after being carbonated that odd taste went away. I actually ending up having a stong hoppy taste and it was just a regular IPA.
