Every time I make new starter media, I end up with quite a bit of particulate matter at the bottom of the flask. Do people filter this out or just leave it? Does it have any value?

I've talking about the un-fermented wort without prior to adding the yeast.

Probably settled break material. I'd leave it be. It won't cause any flavor issues and if it gets into the main wort it will settle out.
