Whats the best\most sanitary way to get hydro samples from your glass carboy?

I use my auto-siphon without the hose, with the cylinder my hydrometer goes into held with the same hand I'm pumping with. About 3 pumps and it's filled enough to get a reading. And of course sanitize everything.

I just bought a wine thief yesterday and took a sample...no mess, no fuss, nice and easy. Just be sure to clean and sanitize, obviously.

I use a sanitized turkey baster.

I use both, Turkey baster or a wine thief, depends which one i feel like sanitizing. Both I got from my LHBS.

Wine thief, if i need a large sample. Mostly i use a 10ml glass pipette and check with refractometer.

I thought I was the only one that does that
10ml is enough to get a refractometer reading and a small taste to see how things are going.

Wine thief but only fill enough for about 1/2 a shot glass. Then use refractometer and can get a little taste.
