Fermcap + Wheat = no Hose?

My next beer is a wheat ale. For some reason, my old recipe has a ton of wheat in it, and it blows up pretty good.

I have obtained some Fermcap. Will this stuff do away with the need for a blow off hose?

Probably, but do you want to take that chance? How good is your ability to wash the krausen off the ceiling?

I'd use a blow off hose for anything I'm not certain of. Especially if headspace in the FV is lacking. The bigger the internal diameter the better. I used 7/8ths inch ID tubing on my one gallon FV's. With the FV tucked away in a lower cabinet it gave a really deep sounding BUMP... BUMP... BUMP as bubbles rose to the surface.

Annoyed my spouse when the house was really quiet!

Dude at the homebrew place said to use an airlock and put something over it to prevent it from going into orbit.
