I received a new BB Oktoberfest Lager extract kit for Christmas. I want to make it but don't have true lagering capabilities. The instructions say that the Lager yeast included will ferment at cooler ale temps and my basement is the only cool controlled environment at 62-64 degrees. Can I make this kit with the yeast included or should I get an Ale strain? What would be good?

At those temps, I would use one of the following: WLP 011 Euro Ale, WLP 029 Koelsch, or WLP 036 Dusseldorf Alt. If you can use a swamp cooler or some other method to get the ferm temps down to the mid-50s, the lager yeast will be ok.
