First ever DunkelWeizen in the fermenter today!

5lb Munich
5lb White Wheat
1lb Oats
12oz Caramunich 1
6oz Carara Special ii
4oz Chocolate Wheat Malt
*** steeped overnight, strained using coffee french press, and added to boil in last 10 minutes
*** and it really did remove the roasted bitterness!
2oz Caramel Munich 60L
1.25oz Hallertau at beginning of boil
WLP 300 Hefeweizen Ale Yeast

Ok, here's the final product after 1 1/2 weeks on the gas. Bubbles are a bit big right now.

It has a raw wheat forward taste and about as much bitterness as a Samuel Smith Oatmeal stout.
Lacing sticks fairly well on the glass and the head stays at a bit more than 1 inch for the whole drink.
Interesting brew, but I'm going to move on from this style instead of tweaking this recipe out.

If I were going to brew another, I'd change it to 2 lbs of oats, 7 lbs Munich, and 3 pounds of Wheat, 4oz Crystal 60, and the rest the same.
I also tossed in .25 ounce of Hallertau at flame out and would do that again as well.
