I was wondering if anyone ever made a "Donker Witbier" (Dark Witbier)? Essentially a dunkelweizen with Belgian Wit yeast? I just made a standard witbier and just wondered if a dark belgian wheat would be as delicious as a dunkelweizen is compared to a regular weizen. There seems to be no BJCP style so I guess it would be Belgian Specialty Ale.
I was thinking:
Est OG: 1.056
Est FG: 1.012
IBU: 13.4
SRM: 14.5
GRAINS:
3.25 lbs Belgian Pilsner
1 lb Light Munich
3.75 lbs Dark Wheat
1 lb Flaked Oats
4 oz Caramunich II
4 oz Biscuit
2 oz Chocolate Wheat
8 oz Amber Candy Sugar
HOPS
0.5oz Sterling 4.8% at 90min
0.5oz Sterling 4.8% at 15min
YEAST
Wyeast 3944 Belgian Witbier
Mash 152 - 60min
Ferment 10days at 66F
I was debating whether the standard coriander and orange peel would go with a darker 'wit' or not.
Anyone ever make whatever this type of beer would be lol?
