CO2 extract shelf life

I found a Columbus co2 extract from HopsDirect in a bin of ingredients. It was a freebie. so I didnt check the instructions. Mfg says refrigerate. Ive had it at room temp for about a year. There seems to be a lot of variation in recommendations on storage, including one who says up to three years at room temp.

Anyone have any data saying the extract will be bad? Im only using it for bittering.

That is the resource that said three years. I guess I will hope that it is the same across all manufacturers.

On brew day, open it, smell it, if it seems good use it.

But have a back-up plan.
