Cigar box stir plate

I’ve never made a yeast starter, and after a possibly under pitched lager I decided to MacGuyver up a stir plate with mostly things I had around the house. I did not have anything to dial in speed control with, but it’s only running on a 5V power supply, so I’m assuming this will fit the bill. Does this seem to be about right as far as speed? To fast/slow?

I think that speed is fine. Once you have yeast in there and wort, the viscosity gets a little thicker, but it looks like it will be just fine.

Don't forget to keep the top covered with sanitized aluminum foil.

Here is the low cost speed control I'm using if you're interested. You would have to move to a 12v power supply though.
