I am limited in fermenters currently and was wondering if I can add sorbate/sulfite and a clearing agent to my cider that is in the primary fermenter. Is there any reason why not to?

Thanks!

sure, it shouldn't be a problem. a lot of people don't even rack their cider to secondary.

I wouldn't. My cider smelled terrible in primary but smelled awesome after just a day in secondary.

I also would recommend trying to get it to a secondary. Plus you want to mix in the sorbate/sulfite/pectin, but not with lees.

A lot of people don't find it necessary, but I really think it helps the overall cider.

I haven't added anything to my cider, except for nutrient. It has been going for about a week now... Smells like cider. What does the pectin/sulfite/sorbate do to the cider??
