burnt molasses - Aluminum brew Kettle

After brewing my first Imperial stout I find I've got got burn molasses on the bottom of my Aluminum brew kettle. any ideas on the best way to remove it?

SOS pad is ineffective.
Scraping it with a floor scrapers is also inneffective

Anything I can use to dissolve it without damaging the kettle?

a) let it dry out and it may easily scale off
b) soak in your favorite cleaner overnight
c) brew up your next batch and it will go away
d) fire up that chipping gun

Might try some hot water mixed w/ PBW. I've had good luck with PBW removing all sorts of organic material. Generally you just have to soak for awhile, maybe overnight and it will lift the junk w/o an ounce of elbow grease.
