What is the name and use of that brewing tool that is a wooden cup on a long wooden handle?
Also what is the name and use of the tool that looks like a long wood spatula?

I keep seeing these tools depicted in old drawings and sketches of people brewing beer. Mostly interested in the cup one. I could see use in the spatula like one.

The spatula may simply a "mash paddle" for use when adding grains to the mash water or vice versa, or it may be the device used to remove the spent mash from the mash tun...

Cheers!

Thanks guys that was helpful. I will be building those two tools to go with the mash paddle I've made already.

Does anyone yet have a proper term/name for the (spatula-like) thing?

I just looked at that picture again and this time noticed there's something akin to a hybrid paddle/rake thingie in the middle of the picture, so I'm going with "shovel" for the other thing...

Cheers!
