I guess now we know why they won't let you play with the power tools!!speed said:i'm a mechanic and last tues. was working on a car, trying to seperate a ball joint from the a frame when the tire iron slipped and whacked me square in the forehead. I now have a nice scar about 1 inch long and 6 stitches right between the eyes, bummer.

I mean people do like to save a buck by working on their own stuff right? That's why we have AUTO PARTS STORES... I've seen 'em, my Brother and Sis In Law work for 'em for pity's sake....
So WHY would the bastards in Detroit use TORX bolts on freaking BRAKE calipers????

Aaron said:Yeah, that's the only use I get out of my TORX set....doing brake jobs on the minivan.

speed said:darkstar, this is the kind that has a through bolt, the ball joint is not tapered. Once the throughbolt is out you just pry down on the a frame, i was pulling against the torsion bar pressure. I have done these a hundred times, but usually on the floor, this one was up on the hoist, eye level
Hey Ceej, what's the deal with that slant-6 in your gallery? I was about -> <- this far from buying a D-100 pickup last weekend, but the price was about 25% too much.Ceej said:Just spent a couple of hours wrenching on one of the Electrathon America race cars sponsored by my company...
Ummm...yeah I actually don't know squat about them other than they have a pretty good reputation and there are some nifty aftermarket packs for them to get you around 200hp. I mostly looking for an old truck to screw around with, and prefer an old Ford ('77-78 or so would be ideal) with a 400 which is what my father used to have. But I would have gone for the D100 and learned the slant-6 had the price been right.Ceej said:Most people who mess about with slant-sixes are a little odd....Uh.
Uh Oh.
