I am going to brew an APA using El Dorado hops for the first time. I want to know what other hops might pair well with El Dorado. Here is my grain bill from Brewing Classic Styles:

10 # 2-row
.75 # Munich
.75 # Crystal 40

Here are the hops I have in stock to use: El Dorado, Centennial, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra, Magnum, and Amarillo. I would be interested in quantity and boil times you might think would play well. Thanks

I just served an APA with El Dorado to some of our forum friends.

At first, it was pronounced 'weird' and 'fruity' but someone claimed it grew on them (either Homercidal or Pappers, I can't remember which).

I did use one ounce of citra in it, just because I had heard that el dorado alone was too much 'Jolly Ranchers' flavor. I think it enhanced it.

When the beer was first kegged, I thought it had an earthy character to it, but once it carbed up it was definitely not earthy and instead fruity for sure. It's hard to explain, because it wasn't really that fruity but more like a melony fruity. It's unlike anything I can actually describe.

Yooper, (and anyone else) I was thinking of subbing the chinook in my house recipe below for el dorado. How do you think it would do with the other hops?
