I am just wondering is these "yeast nutrients" are worth buying... how much do they help fermentation i'm looking into the wyeast nutrient and i was just wondering... thanks

I find I get a more active and vigorous fermentation with it. Also, on high gravity beers I'd almost say it is a must.

+2 and almost EVERY mead uses it.
With most meads though you don't have the protein and enzymes for the yeast to eat so, yeah, you sorta have to use it on meads. I did it on my first mead and it went from 1.116 to 1.011 with a sweat mead yeast. I forgot to do it with my Wee Heavy and it has pretty much stalled at 1.038 from 1.110.

I agree that proper aeration is a must though on all brews. High gravities just need a little kick sometimes.
