e-mail and 509 Spam

Hey I had some time to do some analysis of the text of the spam messages I have been getting. I found a super strong correlation (Pearson's r=.975) between a message being a 509 scammer and having the word god in the text. So I created a rule that automatically throws out all of the messages that have the word god in them, keeps my inbox clear of quite a bit of spam. Just thought I would share this trick with you guys so you can eliminate the 509 scam from your e-mail.

Does it permanently delete it, or just throw it in a spam folder for review? I'd go with the latter, otherwise this seems like a great way to delete a bunch of false-positive legitimate e-mails. There may be a strong correlation to spam, but that doesn't mean that it's exclusive to spam. Especially if you and your friends happen to be particularly religious

I find the 509's to be more on the enjoyable side of spam. I H8 the drug ones.

Oh, and I've found a 100% correlation between the message being spam and having the word 'penis' or 'viagra' anywhere in it.

Most of these letters originate from Nigeria. Since Nigerian criminal code sec. 6-1-38-419 is the section that deals with fraud, they have become known as 419 letters.

I set up greylisting on the mail server at work the other day and in conjunction with nolisting and Spamassassin the spam problem has almost been eliminated.
