This Highland Gaelic clone I just brewed would work fine- nice maltiness, a smooth hit of caramel flavor, beautiful coppery color, and a nice Northern Brewer/Cascade hop finish, which I hope will only get better now that I can do a full boil.

for homebrew I will choose our IPA...very good 
I'm going to choose "homebrew." Yup, it's a copout answer, but it's mine.
Commercial- Piraat, the layered complexity would give different flavor depending on serving variables.
Homebrew- A Summit IPA. I'm really jonesing for summit right now.

Commercial -Hofbraeu Haus either Dunkel (Bavarian dunkel) or their Christmasbeer.
Homebrew -from the looks of the recipe alone. Cubbie's Altbier

I say this because The only things I've brewed thus far
1 -mead
1 -metheglyn (spiced mead)
1 -apfelwein (Ed Wort's)
And while all those are extremely yummy they aren't beer.
