I'm getting a crankandstien mill for fathers day. The gap is adjustable. What is the current thinking on what width to set the gap to? For good efficiency and lauterability

.045! that's very wide. I'm not sure I'd get that high an efficiency with that coarse a crush.
I routinely get 70% efficiency with my friends mill and I'm sure his is set tighter than .045

My mill is set at .039 and I get consistent efficiency when using the same grain bill. It varies if I change up to something different.

Here is the one I'm getting
It come stock set to .045 It can be adjusted from .025 - .065
Looks like a good mill for the price.
