Can someone please educate me on the characteristics of west vs. east coast hops? Also, name some of the varieties of each, and maybe some of their individual characteristics. Which (in your opinion, of course) are better for aroma, flavor and bitterness...etc. Thanks!

Pat

Most of the hops grown in the US come from Yakima, WA. I'm not aware of any east coast varieties. You may be able to find some small farms on the east coast that grow hops.

Agreed, the east and west coast may have different variations within the beer styles when it comes to hopping, but the bulk of US hops are coming from the Yakima area or possibly the Willamette valley in Oregon.
