I"m currently brewing a Cream Ale that calls for transferring from the primary to the secondary after 5-7 days. After reading a few other posts on here, I was curious to see if this is actually necessary? There is no dry hopping involved, and basically the only thing I plan to add is some Vanilla.

If anyone has some suggestions or tips, it would be appreicated

thanks!

Nick

The secondary is only necessary for clarity in a beer like a cream ale. I'd just give it 14 days or so in primary and rack it carefully to bottling bucket or keg if it's clear.

I'd suggest being cautious with the vanilla. try adding some to a commercial bottle and taste it before you go gung-ho. You may not be satisfied with the outcome.

Hi, thanks for the response! I kind of figured that just keeping it in the primary would be the way to go, but just thought I'd ask.

thanks again
