Degassing Chlorine from tap water

If I put my tap water in a carboy and then put an airlock on it, Will the chlorine still come out of the water through the air lock? Or do I need to just put a paper towel over it to keep nasties out.

Just use a Campden tablet.

Yes it will. I fill watter bottles and put them out in the sun. I can taste the difference when it's gone.
