I'm brewing a Bock that requires a primary and secondary fermentation at about 45-50 degrees. I have a room in my house (it's where the heating oil tank is) that stays at a really stable 48-50 degrees. I was thinking it would be a great space to ferment and lager the beer. I'm wondering, though, if I should be concerned that any smells from the oil tank might get into the beer. I suppose that if the pressure inside the fermenter is higher than outside, I shouldn't need to worry. But I'm not sure.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

If you are using glass and an airlock you would be safer than if using plastic. You don't want to take it into the room until the temp is at least that of the room so that it won't suck back as it cools. That is my best guess anyhow.
