I just took a peek at my big, English barleywine after a week in primary to make sure fermentation went through. Obviously I had to sneak myself a taste. Being that it is an 11+% alcohol beer and it is less than a week old, I was not expecting much. But I was floored by how great it was. It's a brilliant copper color and tastes like smooth, honeyed scotch. And as icing on the cake, the four ounce taste I had was enough to give me a small buzz on an empty stomach.
I can only imagine what it will taste like when it has time to age.
