    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

Would love to see pics of your CIP setup when you have it up and working. However I found it much easier to clean than my old carboys. I do take off the ball valve/dip tube. My thought is that's where a lot of trub/yeast/hop material sits, so I'd rather give that a good clean.

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

Brewed my first batch with the Anvil Bucket. Great experience. I was able to complete a closed transfer effortlessly. For the Gas in, I used a #7 stopper with a MFL to Barb Adapter. This allows me to hook my CO2 tank directly to the top of the fermenter. For the output. I connected a 1/2"...

    New Anvil Bucket Fermentors

Is the keg flushed and pressurized with CO2 during transfer? Do you have to vent the keg periodically to keep it flowing?

    San Diego, CA Water Profile

Sorry for resurecting an old thread, but the 2015 Report is now out. It displays the Sodium, Chloride, Sulfate and Alkalinity - Total as CaCO3. But I only see Total Hardness (ppm) instead of Calcium and Magnesium. Any idea how I can get that info? Thanks, Tim

    Kettle Soured Berliner Weisse

Just brewed one last week. I mashed low at 147. Boiled temporarily to kill off any off-flavor generating bugs and to stop the mash. Cooled to 115. Pitched White Labs Lacto delbruckei (sp?) for 24 hours. I didn't actively warm it. I let it cool passively. Was 85 degrees the next day...

How do I remove labels from Stone bottles?

Super easy. Submerge them in CLR for 30 minutes. Wipe off, then rinse very very well (you don't want to drink that crap). Works for any "painted" label bottle.

    PicoBrew Zymatic

Weird question, what's the exhaust like? Are you all brewing indoors? How does it handle the heat and moisture of the boil off?

PicoBrew Zymatic®: Automatic, all grain brewing appliance

Denny, how did the blind triangle test come out on the Rye IPA?

PicoBrew Zymatic®: Automatic, all grain brewing appliance

I have the same concerns. How reliable is the WiFi? Does it only need to initially download the recipe, or does it need the connection throughout the brew session?

Why is this happening. (Air in lines)

Either your pressure is set too low or your keg is overcarbed. CO2 is coming out of solution.

Over pitching BUT NOT onto YEAST CAKE

There's also a risk of underattenuation with overpitching. I think in your situation you're probably fine. Check your FG at the end though and it'll give you feedback about it.

    Cold crashing versus just kegging

This is why I stopped cold crashing. You're oxidizing your beer if you cold crash in a carboy. I transfer to keg, flush with CO2, then crash. Wait 1-2 weeks pour off the sediment and then enjoy the beer. If I need to move the keg, I just jump it to another keg with a CO2 transfer. Then...
