    recurent infection problem

I have a problem with infection during the dry hopping stage. I don't know what to do anymore to prevent it. When I move the beer in the secondary the beer is fine then I dry hop and several days later I have the infection you can see in the picture. I bleach my fermentation buckets, then...

    I'm gutted

I have an arrangement with a pub here in Cork that they would serve my beer on tap but since I don't have a brewing license I can't sell it to him. I get the pub a cask and he give me some beer in exchange. I casked the beer last week and I delivered the beer today. It is a Belgian IPA. 5...

Just brewed a beer with 308 IBUs, A little over the top?

I recently brewed a clone of Pliny the Elder with 172 IBUs and it was fantastic. Last week I tasted a beer with 260 IBUs and it was even better. So I decide to try a bigger ipa today. I came up to 308 ibus. Can't wait to taste the final result. I'll be using about 250g to dry hop it in 2 weeks...

    casking a beer

I have access to a cask big enough to old 10 gallons but i only have 7 gallons of beer to fill it with. Will the beer carbonate with this much dead space? I assusme that it migh also be a risk of oxydation. Or will it be ok? Thanks.

How do you wash your hop bags?

I used to put mine in the washing machine until I realised that some of my ipa had some tide flavour in them. Now I just boil them several time to sterilise them but the hops stains just won't come off. I know in the us it is easy to find some smelless washing detergent but not so much here...

Strike temp with larger amount of grain.

I usually brew 7.5 gallons batch and the volume of the malt is almost always the same but this week end i'll brew a batch twice this size. My question is a certain amount of malt will cool down the mash water to the desired temp for mashing. Since I'll be using twice as much malt, I assume...

I have access to some fresh lemon basil that smell wonderfull. I want to make a wheat beer with it. I have seen a recipe on here that used lemon basil and sage. I guess I could use dry oranges and coriander as well in the recipe. But what would you use? Any suggestions?

Better to leave wort unboilled or boil it and add yeast tomorrow?

During the mash, I decanted the starter and smell something off. I tasted the decanted wort and got a strong taste of infection. I don't have that kind of yeast in stock but can get another send over night. Would it be better not to boil the wort or boil it and add the yeast tomorrow...

    21% All grain brew.

So I'm working on a 20% + ABV all grains with absolutely no sugar added. I was inspired by the beer called caused of death. I recently made a clone of DFH120 IPA In which I have added a lot of sugar and want to explore the other route to make a massively strong beer without resorting to freeze...

    First Ipa with Pellets

I finished my first IPA with pellets, Now about a 3 hours later I can see a large layer of sediments in the bottom of the bucket. I had read that it was fine to dump the content of the kettle in the fermentation bucket which i did. I did removed some of the sludge before dumping. It is...

    Question about dry hoping

I'm using brew pal for Iphone and when you create an ipa recipe, you add the hops you when to add during the boil and the IBU increase accordingly. But when you add hops in the dry hopping section, it does not increase the amount of IBU? Is that a bug in the app or is it normal? I find...

    Mini keg bomb

I kegged this one about 3 weeks ago and left it in a corner. This morning I saw this. Couldn't believe how deformed the keg was. Guess will drink during the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indy 500. Have a good memorial week end you all.
