Blichmann Quick Connections inside brew kettle

Trying to make a dip tube out of what I have. Anyone know if I can use the Blichmann Quick Connection inside the brew kettle? Pretty sure it’s stainless, just can’t find anything on the temperature dance of the rubber part. Any thoughts?

    Saving a brew kettle

Help. Inherited a brew kettle, but it leaked. Upon inspection it seems a badly drilled hole is the culprit. Valve is 3/4 inch. I’m wondering if I can fix this by increasing the hole size to 1 inch and buying a larger valve. Any thoughts?

    Filtering your beer gun?

I dry hopped an IPA with pellets and despite cold crashing for 3 days at 34 F and letting natural rise carbonate for 3 weeks, I still have lots of hop matter floating around when I pour a pint. I'm wanting to bottle for a competition on the next 72 hours. I was thinking of putting some cheese...

    Yeast fermentation schedule

I recently brewed a Saison using 3711. After reading all the reviews, it seemed like an excellent yeast for what I wanted. I pitched at 1.068 and three days later it's at 1.038. BeerSmith estimated a FG of 1.009, and its only been three days. However, I'm curious as to if I'm, for lack of a...

    Reinforcing a keeper lid

Been searching everywhere with no luck. Maybe someone here can help. I built keezer/bar combo. Keezer lid is topped with 1/2 inch maple. I'm a little worried that the factory screws won't be enough to hold the weight of the new lid. Anyone have experience reinforcing the lid hinge?

    Yeast recommended temperature range

I've been reading a lot lately about fermentation temps, and see a lot of people shooting for the lower end of the recommended range, especially for yeast neutral beers. It got me thinking. I know that fermentation can be a few degrees higher than the temp of the area that it's taking place in...

    Consistently low OG

Okay everyone, Need a little help here. I consistently have one of two problems: 1.) I hit my OG, but my water volume is significantly low (like at least a gallon short). 2.) My water volume is dead on, but my OG is too low. Latest example is a Russian Imperial Stout. Hit my...

    1st attempt brown ale...feedback requested

Hello All, I'm working on a Brown Ale, my first of this style. I was torn between the Northern English variety w/ its classic toffee notes and the American version, with it's slightly more aggressive hops. Looking for some critiques on my recipe. Hoping to brew this weekend. 7 lbs, 8 oz Pale...

    BeerSmith Issues

So I have been experiencing some issues since switching to BeerSmith. My water volumes always seem to generate more wort than expected. Additionally, my FGs have all been too high. I am brewing all grain, however I do not have one large brew kettle. I use (2) four-gallon kettles, so I...

    Batch size reduction?

So today I'm starting my first all grain brew. Going with a Coconut Porter. I only have a 4 gallon boil kettle though. Here's my thought. The local HBS store guy told me that for a 5 gallon batch all grain, I would need at least an 8 gal boil kettle. (8-5)/5=1.6 so the boil kettle needs to be...

    1st beer a success?...maybe.

So just opened my first bottle of my first ever brew. I did a porter w/ cold coffee extract and vanilla infusion during secondary. Opened this a couple days early just to see what was in store. Carbonation was just right. No sediment. Did notice one thing though. A lot of microbrews I taste...

    Plastic buckets?...

    Question about secondary fermentation

Can you do the secondary in a bucket, or is it essential to use a glass carboy?
