    Iodine Test Strips

My LHBS had some bags of Iodine test strips for cheap, so I picked up a bag. I read instructions and what not and tested them with my wort, didn't turn black, that's good. Not many people seem to use the strips, but, I wanted to test them somehow to see if they actually work how they should...

    Frustrated

Well one issue I forgot to mention was, since we moved my fermentation temps have been in the 72-74 range, which sucks. I need to figure that out, I'm in an apt. So my options are limited. The last batch (a Hefe with 50% 2 row 50% wheat) my efficiency went from 70ish to 40ish? My mash temps...

    Frustrated

So my 5th-7th batches have been a nightmare, all of a sudden my efficiency has gone down rapidly, beer tastes like crap, ugh. I'm just venting but, the only thing that's changed is I've been using iBrewmaster & I moved to a new apt. I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

The growler certainly has a very thin wall. Lesson learned.

    1 gallon bomb, FML

Yea, I put them in the fridge. I screwed up and assumed 2.6oz of corn sugar was by weight, I guess not. It was for 3 gal.

    1 gallon bomb, FML

Hah, I'm terrified of the remaining bombers, which is a good name for them.

Is this bacteria or yeast growing back?

If you see more coming that rapidly it's probably not mold, and it looks kind of bubbly, I'm betting your perfectly fine.

Is this bacteria or yeast growing back?

If it continues to "grow" it may be mold of some sort, it's hard to tell with the picture. Does it look "bubbly" at all? Like krausen? Are you fermenting in front of a window? I usually always have residual spots of co2/krausen after fermentation completes.

    Beersmith - Coopers malt extract..

You can add new extracts to the database with custom variables. If it's prehopped he may need to get the specs and make an entry for the extract and another for AA. Also check the support link on beersmiths website, there is often new database additions added there.

    New Place, Higher Temps

So we have just settled into our new apartment, which is great. I have one problem though, This place stays at 70-73 degrees, we have not ran the heat at all since moving in. Thats great on the gas bill side, but looking at my carboys (empty) they are at 74-77 degrees, once fermentation would...

    Dark Hefe

It will be darker, but not as dark as the fermenter suggests, it's the LME. It will still taste great though.
