My LHBS had some bags of Iodine test strips for cheap, so I picked up a bag. I read instructions and what not and tested them with my wort, didn't turn black, that's good. Not many people seem to use the strips, but, I wanted to test them somehow to see if they actually work how they should. What should I dip them in to see if they change to black? (thinking household item)

Are you sure these are for testing mash and not for testing iodophor? If they are indeed iodine impregnated strips be sure not to put them in your mash but rather into a small sample you have extracted from the mash. Iodine is quite poisonous.

The traditional thing to view the iodine-starch reaction with has always been a slice of potato.
