RIMS Box (or tube in a box)

My pops enjoys building things. I presented him with a challenge - build me a RIMS tube for my brewery. He did so and did it well! Unlike other RIMS tubes I've seen out there, he put the tube INSIDE the toolbox. One batch in, and it worked great. I'll be dialing it in over the next couple...

Wild yeast - 2nd use - ever seen something like this?

1st use fermented a tasty blonde with some mild wild aromas, started to form a small pellicle prior to kegging. Faint sour taste, very faint. Washed, reused in a munich/willamette smash. Gnarly looking primary 24 hrs later. Globs under surface. Bubbling appears to have a pellicle type...

I have a strong, strong odor coming from my Dark Winter Saison...dual pitched a starter (or each) of wlp565 and wyeast 5112 (brett b). 24 hrs later, I have strong fermentation...and a strong smell. It is hard to explain...almost a chemical smell, initially, that can take your breath...

    Brett B starter question

I've got a .5 Liter starter of Wyeast Brett B 5112 and was planning on pitching it into a Dark Winter Saison (BYO/Oldsocks/Mad Fermenter recipe) along with WLP565. I've also got a Wyeast 3711 saison that is nearing kegging time. I was going to pull 2 gallons from the French Saison, rack it...

Brett B got hot during shipment... DOH!

So I ordered a pack of Wyeast Brett B from Midwest. I forgot to include the ice pack (they really should encourage it like AHB does). My own fault, I did so in haste. So it was on the FedEx truck for five days. It was hot when it arrived yesterday. I immediately put it in the fridge. Got...

    Recipe feedback

I adjusted the recipe...originally only called for 1oz fuggles...had some nugget lying around. Hoping for something closer to Brooklyn Brown, less like Newcastle. I steeped the grains for 25 mins at 150-155. Also, experimenting with the molasses...some homemade stuff from backhome, made from...
