Help me name this Beer! (Image)

You people are Great! I like Big Ball Tic & Bollocks Baltic. Still thinking of a Yoyodine reference like if John Smallberries had a Big brother or something. Anyway it's perking away in the fermenter now. Hope the figs come through.

Help me name this Beer! (Image)

Made a Chocolate Baltic Oatmeal Porter w/figs tonight. While taking out the hop bag after the boil i saw the image below. I've never seen it look quite this way before. Had to laugh. Now i'm thinking of naming this beer 'Hung Viking' What are your thoughts...

Help me decide what to brew

OK here you go. Get the makings for the porter of your choosing. to it add Briess Munich 10L whole grain, 1 lb. Take the Briess 10L and smoke it (the entire 1lb.) for 20 to 70 minutes. Make sure your smoker has COOL billowing white smoke. Don't let the temp get above 200. Use any...

Help me decide what to brew

How about a Belgian strong/dark ale or a nice Smoked porter. Think Winter. You'll need a beer that warms you.

    Graham Cracker Porter?

I just found this thread, read this thread, and realized there are no results posted! Ugh! Ok, i'll try but with an Extract Brown Ale instead. Hey, it's what i did... We were experimenting with flavors and wanted Graham cracker and a hint of vanilla. I can't remember where we got the recipe...

    Straining the wort Good idea????

I see. I'll look into getting a hops bag then. I used to use the grain bag for my hops but then i noticed all the hops that passed through it. That's why i used that sieve. I do believe the aeration was better with it. I'll experiment with both maybe. Thanks everyone.

    Straining the wort Good idea????

For what reasons i had i strained my wort through a 200 micron sieve on brew day. It's the sieve i use from my honey extraction. OG was 1.080. Going into the secondary SG was 1.024. I just bottled it and the FG was 1.022. i've never seen a clearer beer! ('Monk's Blood' clone btw). There...

    Tubing

so i started to use a small dowel as a push rod and a piece of fabric soaked in starsan. It didn't work that great. Then i got a piece of #12 wire out of a length of romex. Made a loop at the end and tied the fabric patch to it. Pulled it thru the tubing and it was clean. The #12 wire is...

    *WARNING* Stupid thermometer mistake

I can't believe i did this! I work in research for God's sake! CHECK THE CALIBRATION ON EVERY THERMOMETER YOU USE! I don't like the stem thermometers so i got a dial version. Why i never checked it against the mercury one i can't explain. I found out it was 8 degrees off (low) during a...

    Tubing

I like the gun cleaning kit idea; though i won't be using my regular kit. I can pick up some narrow rope at the hardware store soak it in Starsan then pull it through with a dowel and be done. Thanks for the advice y'all.

    Lowest temp for top-off water

What is the lowest temp the top-off water an be? I had real trouble keeping my fermenter below 72 degrees this summer. If i can chill the top-off water then maybe the heat from the initial fermentation will stay below the 72 degree mark. I did use a fan & water bath (guess I'll add ice to...
