    Finally...beginning my electric brewery

Finally beginning the initial stages of the brewery. It will be based on a similar cart style 2-vessel system like board member Resslerk has posted. I'll be using 240, so I've started with the spa panel. I'm not electrically minded, but I have studied enough here and figured I could get more...

    PJ wiring diagram

Like many here, I've been drooling over the electric systems and want to go route. I am in the process of planning a system exactly like the system at this link https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f51/brewkart-ditches-countertop-brutus-205427/index2.html. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for this? I...

    No foam when bottling

The last two batches that I've bottled did not foam when I bottled. Therefore, I didn't cap on top of foam. I switched from using a bottling bucket with spigot and bottling wand to using my auto siphon and bottling wand. The first batch was great for two months and is now highly oxidized. I...

    1st AG disaster!!!

So, I've had my AG system ready for a while but work got in the way of doing my first batch. Single tier, 3 keggles and one pump. Stainless false bottom. The recipe was a simple SMaSH, 10 pounds Vienna and cascade hops. I heated my strike water to 175 and then transferred to the mash tun to...

    Favorite smash recipe?

Anyone care to share their favorite smash recipe? I'm going to the lhs tomorrow, and I will be getting the ingredients for my first all-grain attempt. I want to start simple. I was thinking an apa style, maybe just some 2-row with amarillo if i can get them or citra. Any suggestions? Thanks for...

    Needle valve source?

I'm trying to figure out how to finish my gas rail, and I'm having trouble finding needle valves that I can use without having to buy so many adapters. I would like to have 3/8 female flare ends on both ends of the needle valves. Anyone know if this is made? I'm using 3/8 inch flex gas line...

    Compression fittings at ferguson

Anyone ever purchase compression fittings from ferguson? I was wondering if they were fine. They are cheaper than ordering from swagelok. Thanks for the help!

    Thermapen question

I was looking at the thermapen to measure the mash temps and sparge water, but I was concerned that the 4.5 inch probe wouldn't be long enough to go far enough into the mash to get an accurate reading. Am I wrong on this? I haven't done an allgrain batch yet, just extracts and partials but going...

    Recipe for easy APA?

I would like to brew this today or tomorrow and was wondering if anyone had a good recipe for an APA using Amarillo and simcoe hops. I would like to brew something like Dudes lake walk but I read the thread and didn't see an extract version. I may have missed it. Anyways, I would really...

    Best way to mount burners

I am currently building a single tier rig 3 vessel, and I was wanting some advice on how I should mount the burners. I am using 2 BG-14 burners and one 6-inch burner under the mash tun. I have the burners ready for installation but need to figure out wind screens and burner mounts. Any...

About to buy 3 bg-14 burners, anyone say no?

I am building a single-tier 3 vessel system, and I think I have decided on the high pressure BG-14 burners from agrisupply. I have searched the forum and read some decent reviews, so I was going to order them today. Anyone suggest otherwise? I'm basically finished with welding up the frame, and...

    Sears coldspot upright freezer

I am going to build a fermentation chamber and found this upright freezer for 50 dollars. I believe the shelves are where the cooling lines are running. Does anyone know how difficult this will be to work with? I will probably have to move the shelves or bend them back? Is this too much trouble...

    quick question on fermentation chamber

I have searched and read through a lot of the various methods for fermentation chambers, and I have settled on either using a regular fridge or using a mini-fridge and building a larger chamber with insulation. In your opinions, which do you think would give me the most room (would like room for...
