Which T-Shirt Design is Your Favorite

A is great, especially the one on the left. What about "Masters of the Brewniverse"?

Brewing in a country with alcohol prohibition

"KORKEN series is ideal for preserving pickles and jams, serving beverages or keeping your cookies crunchy. The airtight seal locks in all the goodness." Looks to me more like a wine bottle with flip-top rather than a real beer bottle. But I've seen mixed opinions, with some not even daring...

Brewing in a country with alcohol prohibition

Careful with the Ikea bottles, I am not sure they are designed to resist the pressure of carbonating beer - to be honest I am almost sure they don't. Could you share the model you bought? You risk having exploding bottles, not fun if you have to explain what happened afterward. Cheers.

Instant Pot (pressure cooker) HB uses?

I use it for 1 and 2. It works great! Cheers

    Anyoe used this pump before?

I have used it at boiling. Works fine. Cheers. Edit: I was referring to the brown pump, but it is true for both brown and Aliexpress pumps.

    Anyoe used this pump before?

I have it and have used it for a couple of brews. It's a nice small little pump, which I use for recirculating some 50L (~12G) in a BiaB setup, and pushing it through a heat exchanger. It has a decent output flow, quite silent, it's magnetic (and thus can be controlled by choking the output)...

    Don't Do That.

Don't put your immersion chiller into your boiling wort, turn the water tap on and, when nothing gets out, look into the hose. Turns out water eventually got out really really hot and splashed my face! Thankfully the hose was small and I had my glasses on... Seriously, don't do it!

First sous vide steak...Need help ASAP

I used the recommended link, and results were amazing. Y "sous-vided" it with a zip-lock bag and a straw, but it was enough. No oil required, just salt and pepper. Good luck!

Yeast aeration? Danstar Nottingham data sheet says not necessary.

I was recently in a talk made by one of Fermentis representatives on exactly this subject. He made very clear that we should not oxygenate. He even hinted - well, actually said it quite plainly - that oxydation off-flavours found in many homebrewed beers came from oxygenating the wort. Indeed...

    Ginger Ale (kegged)

Then it was time enough to mellow indeed. Thanks.

    Ginger Ale (kegged)

How long did you leave it to rest? In my experience (only once, I admit) the taste the first 2-3 days was strong and spicy, but it mellowed ~1w after the initial preparation. Cheers.

Take a look at my wiring diagram!

I found them to be cheaper, but maybe it's because I am in Europe. You can use whatever you want: contactor, SSR or even mechanical relay (this last could be even better than SSR actually). Not for the currents you will be working with. I do have in mine, but we are talking about more than...

Take a look at my wiring diagram!

Ok. Now I'm on my laptop, so I've had the time to look at this with a larger screen - incredible how this changes one's view on the problem :) Apparently, if we believe the Electric Brewery (which I tend to do :) ) you can use directly those switches: "The contactor only needs to support the...

Take a look at my wiring diagram!

You are right, the e-switch is NC. I read the wrong description and it mentioned it was NO and did not lock in place. But as I was on my phone, my fingers might have played me :) A contactor is a bit like a mechanic SSR. It could be overkill indeed (I use it for my water heaters but not the...

Take a look at my wiring diagram!

The emergency stop is rated for 10A@600V, so I am not sure it will work for 2x2.4A@110V. IIRC for 110V it should accept ~1.8A max, but don't take my word for it and make sure you check that. Same comment for the switches, make sure they accept the current. Your mushroom is NO, that is, by...

    Drom John Hibiscus Mango Blonde

When I do "agua de Jamaica" I cool-infusion 15gr of hibiscus per liter (~2oz/gallon) during 10h and I get quite a strong taste. I think even 8oz/5.25gallon (~1.25 oz/gallon) is quite a high concentration of hibiscus, if you don't want the flavour to overwhelm the beer. I would suggest less than...

Thoughts on this Galaxy dominant Ipa recipe?

If you want to modify the colour, use another darker malt. Black malt or chocolate malt for instance will darken your brew without the sweetness of 40L caramel malt, as it will require far less quantity. Cheers.

Thoughts on this Galaxy dominant Ipa recipe?

You hace two Galaxy additions at 0min, one of them I guess should be 10min? Just mention that because it will increase total IBUs by ~25%. I like the mix of hops you suggest. Cheers.

    Show Us Your Label

I find milk works wonders. Just brush the back of the label with a bit of milk, put the label on the bottle and let dry. It's also very easy to take the label out. Cheers.

What are my options for going electric?

Apologies, I did not see the 20A limit! Actually, I totally agree with TexasWine. It is funny how close the system he suggests matches mine. In my case I've got two resistances that I connect to different circuits within my home. As he mentions, 3000W would be good enough for 5 gallons, you...
