    I have a 1/2 ounce of cascade hop pellets left over from last weekend. I just transferred an 11% barley on to pinot soaked oak chips. Would pouring the pellets in the carboy cause any harm?

    Saucepan for grain steeping?

    It seems the more I read they say you should only use less than a gallon of pound for steeping grain. Would it make sense to buy a dedicated sauce pan for only steeping and get my water heated up for the extract addition while the grain steeps?

    I want to raise the alcohol content in a Scotch Ale

    Would I just buy the large brown sugar chunks from my brewstore? The kit is 5.7% and I want it somewhere around 7 - 9%. Would the downside of doing this be that my beer would be a little less complex and those caramel notes would be a bit harder to find?

    Strong Ale has been in primary fermentation for a week and it's still bubbling
