    ~15KW heater with tro-clover?

It doesn't seem all manufacturers are using the same classification for watt density. The common ripple elements we use are Ultra Low Watt Density and around 60w/in2. https://www.brewhardware.com/product_p/element5500_ripple.htm The chromalow 15kw is even less than the ULWD at 46w/in2.

    ~15KW heater with tro-clover?

Take a look at what Chromalox has. They have screw plug versions that you can just thread a TC adapter onto to convert to tri clamp connection assuming you are ok having threads on the hot side. They may be able to provide ones with a tri clamp, but would a special order...

    Groomsmen gifts

We went with cheese boards that were made with melted/flattened bottles. We tweaked our bottle labels for our invites and other wedding stuff and used those inside the cheese bottle as well. Usable much like a pint glass, but a bit different. gbru by WPStrassburg posted May 6, 2010 at 4:56...

Has anyone run a 240v induction cooktop on a generator?

Why don't you just lop the cord off the cooktop and put the appropriate dryer cord end on? Should be $15 and you're ready to run. GFCI is an option and the induction isn't quite the same as when we have an electric element immersed in the water so there is a bt safer operation going on, but a...

Any idea what my tare weight is?

I'm assuming you look at all of the tank, but is that all the stampings on the tank? Usually there is a TW## where the ## is the tank weight. Maybe take a wire brush to the top and see if the original stampings have been painted over.

    What's good in upstate NY?

We've been to all of the Rochester breweries with our two kids from birth to 3.5 years now and never had issues. Half the rochester ones are guys who are homebrewers and stepped up to where they are now. Genesee is cool and has the museum so it's kind of a 2 for 1. Swiftwater, ROC, Fairport...

    This the Ultimate Wort Chiller?

Should have went with TC endcaps so you could pull the ends and clean the tubes to be 100% sure they are clear like most shell & tube exchangers are setup. Would have also removed threads on the cold side. Did you mean 0.2" id for the tubes instead of 0.02"? What wall thickness? Thinner wall...

    Conditioning Grain - Mill Rollers

Run some dry grain through it or go at them with a nylon scrub brush. I usually save a pound or two of my grain bill to run through after the conditioned stuff to clear the rollers.

    Cornical™ Modular Keg System

Has Blichmann had this assembly pressure tested and certified or are they assuming that the keg is certified so they must be good? I didn't see any stampings on the vessel anywhere and I believe anything over 15psi needs certification.

What size cooler for gylcol reservoir

Not controlling the suction directly, just changing the control temp for the liquid line solenoid. I've got plenty of capacity for what I need even when crashing so based on calc'd numbers and real life performance the 4-6000 btu ac units that people are using seem to be a good fit for one or...

What size cooler for gylcol reservoir

The condensing unit that I have puts out just shy of 4000 btu(1/3 ton) when I'm running it at a 15* suction for crash cooling. Normally when it's running at 45* suction I have over 7000 btu available. With a 15 gallon cooler reservoir maintaining a 68* ferm temp for a 15 gallon batch in an 80*...

Getting your kids involved as "assistant brewers"

My plan is to educate our two early so they appreciate quality food and drink. Once they get to college they will have developed a palate such that they avoid BMC and the like. Once they realize they can't afford that many of the good beers at the bars they'll be back at their place drinking...

Steam blue crabs over boil kettle

Ha, you're right. Edit prior response to be unless you want crab flavored beer then this may be unadvisable. If you want crabby beer they carry on!

Steam blue crabs over boil kettle

it's stainless(or aluminum), which as far as i know aren't very good at absorbing things, so go for it. I've done lobsters and clams many times and besides a through cleaning, have had no issues.

    Glycol pump

I started with a bare condensing unit and piped it to a brazed plate heat exchanger. The pump is a Little Giant 4 series and is relatively quiet, but I'm used to having a pump and associated noise running a saltwater aquarium, so it may be "loud" for some. About the same as a March 809 or the...

    Glycol pump

you could use a traditional external pump and pipe the suction up and into your glycol vessel. you would have to prime the pump the first time, but assuming no air gets sucked in should allow the pump to work fine after that. What does your vessel look like? are you completely against adding...
