Braumeister 20L owners: How to decoct?

Hi folks How to proceed with decoction in Braumeister BM20? I mean the step by step process of pulling part or the mash out of malt pipe? I can imagine the following Stop the pump... Undo a wingnut and remove top horizontal pipe(bar)..... Then what? How to fish out floating top plate and top...

    John Guest fitting identification

Hi folks! Is there any way to identify JG fitting (its part number or such?) I have a fitting in front of me kinda like in the picture below It has bunch of JG marks everywhere, sorta female thread and "EF P NSF-51 47" marks on the push fit side. Dark grey insert has numbers 1/4 (looks like it...

    Brewferm Flemish Brown kit tweaks

Hi folks! Anyone tried to tweak Brewferm Flemish Brown kit (Brewferm beer kit Flemish Brown) in any way? According to instructions, this kit makes only 12L (abt 3 gal) batch. And I'd like to have something closer to 5 gallons/19L, cos my GF Conical fermenter has cooling sleeve at 15L-19L...

    Diluting MJ's cider pouch

Hi folks, I've made several batches using MJ's cider pouches and those turned out great (even their "sweet" variants). Now I'm looking for a "lower alcohol" summer drink (to be able to consume more at once), and got the idea to make MJ's pouch into roughly 10 gal (38L) of the water. "Normal"...

Big beer - small batch: keeping efficiency

What you would suggest then? Grain bill would be roughly 5 kg. Thicker mash + sparge as usual? Reiterated mash? Something else?

Big beer - small batch: keeping efficiency

Howdy folks. Then I brew "full-size" 5-6gals hi-grav batches in my Grainfather 30L, I usually do reiterated mash and it keeps efficiency pretty good. Now I'm thinking to make only 10L Belgian Quad batch. So there will be plenty of space for no sparge for example. My question is should I do...

Grainfather Conical Fermenter + small batch

Hi folks! Questions for GF Conical Fermenter owners. Have you guys tried and can say how badly cooling efficiency suffers for <15L batches (when the wort/beer is below the cooling sleeve)? will it chill at all (by cooling the inner walls)? I'm not looking for cold crash obviously, but I'd be...

Ringwood ale, the greatest British yeast for British beer.

Hi folks! It is first time I use wyeast 1187 ringwood ale and I am experiencing an issue with at the moment. 1 smack pack into 2L starter, now 3 days in oxygenated 1.066 at 21c and no signs of life by now. I had a peeked into fermenter and there are no signs of krauzen, just a very little...

First keezer build - does it ultimately need a collar?

Hi folks, I just started to plan very first keezer project - namely got a freezer and 4x5g kegs. Kegs sit in freezer so that it is about 5" space above them up to lid, so I believe it will fit QDs too. Also my CO2 tank fits inside perfectly without collide the lid. I searched alot for...

    Design Guidance for Kegerator/Keezer

If you will put your setup into living space (eg not a garage, basement, loundry etc) I'd vote for keezer. Leakwise. If full keg leak into your upright fridge (AKA kegerator) - you'll have a mess in the room, possible ruined wooden floor or such In freezer -keezer you'll end up with a little...

Recommendations for self-closing flow control forward sealing faucets/taps?

Thanks guys for your replies Indeed neither 650SS nor even 690SS have self-closing... Unfortunately Intertap has self closing feature/spring for everything but their FC models. It is explicitly stated everywhere that spring is not compatible with FC both Gen1 and Gen2 :( So question still :)
