    Salt Lake Homebrewers

Any of you out there on this board? I recently moved here, began rebuilding my kit, and brewed my first batch last week. My question is anyone ever used the artesian well water that flows at that micro park on 800 South? It tastes great, like evian, so I brewed a belgian pale with it. My one...

    Filling Growlers In L.A.?

Sorry man, Brewery's in Cali can only fill containers with their own name on them. Which is why very few places fill growlers. Sucks also, cause the Deschutes growler is priced extra high because they want you to come back for discounted fills. If you want to buy new glass, you can go to...

golden gate coupler -- should i sell or keep?

McMennamins as I recall uses GG taps, so idk, maybe someone in Portland would want a keg from them...or maybe not.

    Karankawa Pale Ale

5 weeks from first boil to blowing the keg.... damn that was good, probably would have gotten better, but it was just damn good.

    Karankawa Pale Ale

I kegged this beer last night with an oz of Amarillos to dry hop. Nottingham did its job beautifully, the beer settled out at 1.009. Already smells great and tastes like hoppy goodness. I'm going to have trouble staying away from this for the next two or so weeks while it carbs/ matures.

    Lagunitas IPA review

Lagunitas is far from the best... but you can get a bomber at 7/11 for $2.80 and that's effin awesome. The Zappa series have been hit and miss, but its a great idea.

    Pabst won the blue ribbon

A lot of the microbrewers in Eugene, OR drink PBR when they want to make a day of it. I do the same. That's why Ninkasi brews its own version of PBR... "Schwag"

    Karankawa Pale Ale

My kit will be arriving on Friday with an oz. of Amarillos to dry hop. I'm pretty stoked.

Discuss: what kind of wine do you like ?

I couldn't rank beer vs. wine. Sometimes I'm in the mood for the one, sometimes the other. However, since I've moved out to California wine has definitely been a more common purchase. I mean first you can buy it in supermarkets which CT forbids and second its so freaking cheap. A bomber of...

    Barley Wine Virgin

Not available in 6-packs, but Rogue's Old Crustacean is the nectar of the gods IMO.

Help! Where Should I Spend Spring Break?

Hey all, So, spring break is a week away and a few of us first year ph.d students here in LA want to take a short trip (one night). We could go up to Santa Barbara and do a day of wine touring or go down to San Diego and do a day of brewery touring. I have a feeling San Diego might be the...

    IPA - Nottingham and/or Munton's Gold

You can definitely try it and I'd honestly be surprised if it wasn't good. However, I'd just go with the nottingham. It's a better all around yeast and 60F is a pretty sweet spot in its range (my opinion).

    The Yard House?

+ amen. I've been to the on at LA Live a couple of times and its not half bad--especially for LA Live. Still, it irks me that they say they have more beers on tap than anywhere else... I'm pretty sure Henry's in PDX has more. But, more to the point, if you take out all the BMC and similar...

    Lagunitas

I'm a fan of Lagunitas. I first tried it in Upstate New York where at a good beer store you could easily find half a dozen of their different brews. Then I moved to Oregon and loved the fact I could pick up a bomber of their latest Frank Zappa series at 7/11 for 2.79. Then I moved to SoCal...

    Growlers

You can always ask and maybe you'll get a cool bartender, but I'd say most likely not. Growlers are "to-go" packaging and priced as such. 7 bucks for a fill is a steal though. Like 18 out here in Los Angeles.

Pliny the Younger release and SF Beer Week

The Blue Palms in LA says they should be getting a keg sometime in the near future. Already having nasty flashbacks to my time in Oregon and the phone trees set up to announce the first tapping of Pliny the Elder... kegs would sell out so fast you literally had to be there when they tapped it.

    Mississippi Mud

Trader Joes in SoCal carries them. I'm gonna have to pick up a couple before they disappear.

Total panic with a Rogue Imperial IPA clone

Remember: brewing is an art, not a science. Mistakes often breed innovation. I'm not sure how your beer will turn out, but you might have very well brewed something that has never before been tasted. Take pride.
