Article about Sam Adams (and craft beer in general) in the news this morning

There are a lot of Sam Adams beers i like. Although, the worst would have to be Merry Maker Gingerbread Stout. Top 3 worst beer I have ever had.

Article about Sam Adams (and craft beer in general) in the news this morning

I used to really like Sam Adams, but Sam Adams is now as close as a craft brewery can get to a Miller or Coors. Every year craft beer conventions have to redefine the number of barrels produced a year to allow Sam Adams to even be considered a craft brewery. Some of their beer is pretty good...

    1 gallon fermenter question

One gallon fermentors aren't expensive (maybe 6 or 7 dollars) if you want the proper glass vessel. I would recommend it because they are glass, sturdy, and can be easily cleaned and sanitized.

What should I do? -- final gravity question

Not necessarily, if it tastes good it IS good! I'm sure when it's fully aged and hopped it will be a darn good beer. :mug:

    Cold Crashing In Bottle

If it's getting the results you want, I'd say try it out and see. I wouldn't leave them in the freezer for too long though.

What should I do? -- final gravity question

From what it looks like your beer is finished. You have a ABV of 7.61% and an attenuation of 73%. White Labs lists WLP005 British Ale Yeast as having an attenuation of 67-74%, making your attenuation very good.

Rosh Hashanah Brewhaha Jewish Rye Beer

So I decided to make my first extract recipe. This recipe is based off the American Rye recipe from NB and I tried to German it up a little bit: 5 gallon recipe (Partial boil - 2.5 gallons water) 6 lbs Rye malt syrup 1 oz. German Tettnang hop pellets (60 min.) 1 oz. German Hallertau hop...

    Primary fermentation and Oak

Honestly, you can do it any way you want to as long as you aren't exposing the beer to too much oxygen. The flavors should diffuse into the beer either way.

    1 day fermentation?

Sounds like you had an aggressive active fermentation. However, try not to shake or move the carboy. If it looks like it's going to leak, then add a blow off hose. Remember, just because there is no airlock activity, it doesn't mean that fermentation is finished. Airlocks aren't controlling your...

Need Recipe Advice: Chocolate Cherry Stout

I'd do that too. You could always brew it again and change it.

    Cooling right after fermentation

It is also common knowledge in brewing that are many strains of yeast, pretty much broken into ALE yeast and LAGER yeast. Taking an ale that was fermenting at 60-70 C and crashing it to 30-40 C will severly stress the yeast. Lagering at a CONSISTENTLY low temperature and using yeast that are...
