I know there is much debate about primary and secondary fermentation. Just a quick question. I'm doing a whiskey stout and the lot came with the wood chips to add.

I was just wondering for you brewers that use just primary fermentation, after initial fermentation do you simply add the wood chips (or whatever flavoring additives), do you stir it in or do you in this case rack the beer in a secondary fermenter on top of the chips.

Thanks!

Honestly, you can do it any way you want to as long as you aren't exposing the beer to too much oxygen. The flavors should diffuse into the beer either way.
