Pitching on a yeast cake from a 1 gallon cider batch

I also do it often, I just pour my new juice in kind of hard to get a little air and yeasties moving around.

    Cider Flavouring? Need Ideas

Crystallized ginger is really good as well. I've been eyeballing some vanilla paste and powder on Amazon, just haven't pulled the trigger. I have a gallon of apfelwien sitting on an ounce of oak beans i soaked in Fireball for a week, I'll have to post updates on that one in another week.

Brewer's Best Premium Cider Yeast only

So, exactly two weeks in and I wrapped up primary ( even though I'm sure it was probably done in 5 days or so), @FG OF 1.000 flat and put into secondary with med roast oak beans. It had some really good apple flavor , not dry but not sweet at all. A great blank slate IMHO. I'm glad I got a 3...

Clear gelatin looking stuff in cider

No I didn't add an enzyme. I ended up believing it was pectin an put it into secondary with some oak beans i had been soaking in Fireball for the last week. Fingers crossed.

Obviously you would at minimum Star-san them.

Funny, I was just rummaging through my kitchen looking for some of those, I KNOW the wife had some. I don't want to waste a muslin bag for a few cubes of crystallized ginger, lol. Edit: to answer your question, I would assume that these would be a one use thing just like the muslin bags.

Clear gelatin looking stuff in cider

I'd like to show a picture, but this stuff in the neck of my carboy is so clear that it doesn't show up in pictures. The only way you can even tell, is that the tiny bubbles in it aren't moving. Recipe: one package Brewer's Best Premium Cider Yeast and pasteurized cider from the farmers market...

Will potassium sorbate kill or inhibit fermentation??

Try Whole Foods, I just picked up 2 ninety-six ounce glass bottles of their cider on sale for less than 6 bucks each. Now I have great juice to start with and bonus bottles to use as I please ;) Edit: and for the record, most if not all of their juice is bad ****-free

Brewer's Best Premium Cider Yeast only

I was going to mess with it last Sunday but there was still a little airlock activity . I want to be sure its finished so I can bottle carb. It has cleared pretty nicely although i may hit it with sparkloid anyway just to clear the residual haze or cold crash, undecided. Im going to work on it...

Safale S-04 & Nottingham ale yeast. What one should I try?

Still waiting to rack my primary onto secondary this Sunday of Brewer's Best Premium Cider Yeast (see my thread) and am curious how it stands against Nottingham. But 5 days in and already have a clear liquid after an aggressive ferment for the first 3 days.

    Port style cider?

Hmm, I think I'll try both and compare side to side. Thanks for the tutelage ;)

    Dehydrated fruit

Hmmmm, it may have been enough. But the strawberries is what i had on hand and had been thinking of trying them for awhile. As far as the tannins and acid blend, it seems to me that these are for flavor and mouthfeel. It is my understanding ( i may very well be wrong), is the difference between...

    Sugar calculator needed

It's not totally flavorless and I could probably just bottle it and let it sit for a few weeks to bring back a little lost flavor. But since this is my first gallon in a long time, I'm impatient to get the carboy empty and try again. Im going to give it a few more days then its getting bottled...

    Port style cider?

Isn't the end result the same if you only skimmed a little ice off of it ?

    Port style cider?

I used "Turbo Yeast" once to make applejack. I just kept feeding them FAJC until it quit bubbling. Froze and skimmed of the ice until it wouldn't freeze anymore. I was left with a very hot and sweet syrup. I didn't share any ;)
