What is the "worst" beer you like? Your guilty pleasure, if you will...

PBR, Genny Cream Ale, and Stoney's all work for me in the summer when i cannot lager. My brother in law found a cheap Pils by the name of Wolters that is not too shabby as well. Sometimes I think I am the only person in PA who doesn't like Yuengling Lager, tastes to me to use more...

What Type of Beer Is This??

I'd call that a very pale ale, nothing in common with Stella at all. Seems a little high on the Perle Bittering hops, may want to consider cutting back there.

    SA latitude 48 yummy

Tried some of the Latitude 48 last weekend and results were a mixed bag for me. The color of the beer was a beautiful shade of copper, I'd love to attain this in my next Pale Ale. The malt flavors were very nice and not overshadowed, maybe British Crystal. Unfortunately being an IPA, the hops...

    Belgian Dubbel from NB

IMO, I do not think that recipe would turn out anything remotely like the Abbey Ale. The orange peel and licorice root really seem out of place, and no dark malts or Candi syrup are used. I wonder if the recipe is actually more appropriate for a Rare Vos clone.

Need help from PGA Tour fans

How about an Apricot Wheat, I'd say peach but I think the Apricot typically yield s better results. AW was probably one of my best received home brews ever.

    Skullsplitter

Skullsplitter is one of the worst tasting experiences I have ever had. My description likening it to a dirty rubber bath mat is still often brought up amongst friends. Must be prone to some bad matched/handling.

What dry yeast for a Chianti

Kit came with Premier Cuvee, is that appropriate for the style, or would something like Montrachet be a better fit? Anyone know anything about Vintner's Harvest Premium Wine Yeasts available at Northen Brewer? Thank you

Should I upgrade to a liquid yeast

I have recently brewed and am currently consuming the Midwest Flat Tire kit. I went with Wyeast 1214 liquid yest option and can provide some feedback. If you are familiar with Fat Tire and would like something similar to it, I'd go with the Nottingham dry or see if you can sub Safale Us-05 and...

Taking my system on the road

Kegging newbie here: I switched from bottling to a dual keg setup(ball lock cornys) from Keg connection about a month ago and would like to take my system to a party this weekend with the two kegs that are currently hooked up and and have been properly carb'd and served for a few weeks now...

    1214 yeast not starting

    1214 yeast not starting

Yes, this was an Activator XL yeast. And no, I have not taken a hydrometer reading yet, there was no pressure in the airlock(double bubble) let alone bubbles. That led make to take a peek and there is no krausen at all, just looks like still wort. Thanks so far to all

    1214 yeast not starting

Do you mean vs. a starter? Yes, I pitched about 5-6 hours after smacking, as per Wyeast instructions.

    1214 yeast not starting

I knew 1214 abbey(smack pack) had a reputation for being a slow starter, but I do not appear to have active fermentation on a Midwest Flat tire kit that I brewed Sunday after 3 days, last night and I moved to a warmer room and tried to rouse the bucket a little. I will check again tonight but if...

Dry yeast that comes with Midwest Irish Red

I am familiar with that kit, and would think that Safale US05 would go very nice that recipe.

Use Hefe Yeast Cake for Dunkel?

Hello I have batch of Hefeweizen using Wyeast Weihenstephan 3068 liquid yeast pretty much done in primary, my next brew will be a Dunkelweizen and I would like to re use the 3068 as I like the same flavor profile in both Hefes and Dunkels. It seems like these styles are a good fit for re-use...

    California Common-Tasted like soap!!

My only batch so far that has not been successful(7 or 8 so far) was also a Cali Common. It has a very strong off flavor that has not subsided with additional time. I am not good at describing the off flavor, maybe closer to BandAid pr medicinal than soapy in my case. Curious what yeast you...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

Need some advice from the Apfelwein experts. I prepared my first batch of Apfelwein on Super Bowl Sunday and thought that I had used 5 gallons of Members Mark(Sams Club) Apple Juice in a 6 gallon better bottle. The better bottle looked a lit bit on the low side but I attributed that to...

    How fast can fermentation finish?

Zappa Just curious, did your kit use the same Windsor Ale yeast? Thanks
