    Yeast havesting worked !

So about 4 moths ago i read an article on HBT about yeast harvesting . Its not yeast washing but making a little bit bigger starter and saving the extra for later. 4 months later i brewed a batch using the extra "made a starter of course" and it worked like a charm. Full fermentation and a jar...

A.E.B Dont forget about your water

Instead of burring this in the Advanced extract brewing thread. I decided to make a new post. We know water plays a big role in how our beer will come out. Some people even go to the extreme of buying bottled water. What i did was buy a whole house filter and add hose fittings to it. The...

Better crush on steeping grains ?

Seems like my steeping grains do not come crushed as much as i would like. I bought a corona mill. Just wondering if any one out there goes with a finer crush to get more flavor ? All of my steeping grains come crushed. But is seems like 25% is crushed and 75% seems like whole grains.

    BiaB possible for a 2.5gal batch ?

Long time dye in the wool extract brewer here. My equipment setup "e-kettle" I can boil 3.5gal max. Since I have a spare 2.5gal corny keg. I thought I would give BiaB a shot on a small scale. New to this, should I take a 5gal all grain recipe/kit and cut it in half? Or use beer smith and...

Help me decide on what yeast to use for a Columbus IPA

Columbus IPA OG around 1.060 "extract with steeping grains". My plan was to use WY 1252 American 2 and make a yeast starter. Come to find out my liquid yeast is out of date. My fall back is that i have a pack of US-05 "house yeast" and a pack of Danstar Notty. What would you do in my shoes ?
