    Barrel aging thoughts...

    I have recently acquired a charred oak barrel to age with but need opinions. Do I age whiskey in it for a bit before aging a stout/Porter in it or just age in the barrel straight from the word Go? I can see both options being viable.

    Using a water filter for a hopback?

    As part of an electric brewery buy, the guy I bought it from threw in a water filter (pic below) when I said I thought it might could be used as a hopback. I think if I removed the filter and threw in whole hops from my garden it would work. Ideas?
