    Unfortunately, was AG.

    Question about taking Final Gravity

Yes yooper, I meant OG. So, I pitched without taking a reading. Used leftover foam in the boil kettle to get OG. Will this be accurate? If I can avoid tinkering with fermenter, that would be good.

    Question about taking Final Gravity

So, I forgot to take my final gravity. In hopes to save myself, I used the foam that was left over from aerating the wort. I just let the foam turn into liquid and then measured it. My question is, will this give me an accurate FG result?

    Irish Stout Ó Flannagáin Standard

Volks, is there a reason that you chose to use fuggles? Did you make this with EKG, and if so, which do you prefer.

    carbonating and conditioning in kegs

Hello friends From what I think I have learned, when I bottle, it is best to let the bottles sit for a minimum of a few weeks to carb, condition, and improve flavor. I think that I have also learned that you can force carb in kegs and drink within 1-3 days. Does the beer not condition when...

    possible carbonation problems in keg.

Thanks guys. I will moisten/lube the seal in the future. Also, giving a shot of co2 to help seal it is a good idea also. Right now, I'll add a bit of co2 to make up for lost sugar/carbonation. I'll have a better process next time, but for now, I'll just wait 2 more weeks in hopes that the...

    possible carbonation problems in keg.

Hello friends. I kegged my first beer 2 days ago naturally. I thought by now that there would be some pressure built up in the keg. I wanted to know, so I tested it....and....no pressure. I thought maybe a leak in the seal. I added a shot of CO2 and I heard a quick (about 2 second) hiss from...

    first time kegging question.

Hello friends. When naturally carbing, does the carbonation create enough pressure to push even an ounce to 2 out?

    Question about sparge water temp

I guess I don't really get why you need to stop conversion. The wort will be drained in 10 minutes anyway and the grain is nothing but trash or compost. Does it really matter?

    sparging BIAB

Rinsing the grains does make sense, but does it really need to be at sparging temperature?

    sparging BIAB

I was wondering why it is needed to sparge a BIAB at the temp of 170 or above. What is the purpose of the sparge? I think I read somewhere that sparge was for 2 reasons.. 1) to eliminate stuck mash. - BIAB shouldn't get stuck. 2) something about halting conversion. - well, if you already...

Atringent taste, 1st and 2nd batch

Word I be right to say that 3/8 oz. is 3/4 of the way up to the 1/2 oz. mark and not the 1/4 oz. mark?

What to do when I miss my OG?

I always want to do this because I am off a lot. However, I am afraid to because I think that it might change the flavor of the beer. How much does adding (a reasonable amount) of DME change the flavor?

Thanks. So, is out like 2 or 3 days for dry hopping? And, also, do they fall to the trub by bottling time? Do I have to worry about hop particles in my bottle?

Gdwolfe... good call! Totally should have used grains of paradise.. I might just need to brew 3 more gallons just to try and compare with the coriander. Although, I did only put in 0.5 tbsp.

Keystone... thanks. I'll have to try some of that brew.

Kpr121, I wasn't planning on it.. I have never dry hopped and am afraid to due to the risk of infection... Any recommendations if I decide to do it?
