First bad batch in 10 years

Maybe my SCOBY hotel didn't get kept clean enough. I don't know. Sicker than a dog. Twice. My question is, can I rinse off my best looking SCOBY and add a tablespoon of vinegar to my next brew? I don't have any good starter tea. Thanks for any help/ideas

    Using kombucha for starter tea

I do 3 gallons at a time and store the starter tea with the mothers. The longer time between brews it seems the mothers suck up the starter tea and I end up short. Can I use some of my kombucha as a starter? It's mildly flavored with blueberries and ginger. Thanks.

    Clarity ferm use. Cloudy

I brewed 10 gallons. Put it in 2 fermenters. One came out clear. One cloudy. What could be the difference? Only difference was dry hopping different hops in each. Both were cold crashed. Any idea what is going on? Thanks.

Why is my SCOBY so thin?

After it's done fermenting and at the right ph, my scoby has been real thin lately. I always add a scoby and starter tea at the start. The scoby I add at the beginning is thicker from previous batches. It usually sinks and the new scoby forms on top very thin. Any suggestions? Thanks.

    Wrong ratios, not working

A friend started a 2 gallon batch and is pretty sure he put in 3 cups of sugar and 2 cups of starter tea. After 3 weeks, still sweet. I ph test striped it and I've never seen the color on the top section, green, not even a shade for that on the scale. What do you think? Dump it and start...

Scoby and starter tea left in jar

I gave a friend a mother and a cup of starter tea in a sealed mason jar. He never got around to making tea with it. It sat in the jar for about a month, in a cupboard, not refrigerated. I took it back and want to use it. The mother and tea look fine, but there was what looks like mold on the...
