    Sweetening with Spenda

    I just finished Ed Worts Apfelwein and it needed (IMHO) to be sweeter. I was told to use Splenda since it won't ferment out and become dry again. I used 2 cups of Splenda per 5 gallons.     Conical Fermentors vs Buckets

    I was looking on some sites and checking out Conical Fermentors. What is the advantage of this vs the standard bucket. Also I noticed that there is a ball valve on the bottom of the cone. I would assume this is for the trub. Is that the advantage, to remove the trub for yeast harvesting? George

    Slow Yeast

    I brewed an Orange Hefe this weekend. I airated and pitched the yeast at 71 deg but 12 hrs later it has no noticable fermentation. I used WL300 without a starter. In the primary I added 6 oranges sliced up. Would the acid from the oranges delay the yeast from starting? g

    Apfelwine Yeast

    Today I "brewed" my first Apfelwine. I used Cot De Blanc yeast. On the packey it said to rehydrate with 100 deg -105 deg water. Past experience has told me that a temp that high will kill the yeasties. But I followed the directions. Am I good or should I get another pack and pitch dry?
